Pedagogy

My teaching strategy is to create learning modules that are designed to inspire discovery. I do not teach art per se. Instead I present challenges that ask for creative solutions. I show students work by many artists and allow them to explore what it means to develop an artistic practice of their own. While there are often specific details that need to be taught, emphasis is always placed upon concept and process. I require students to read theory, write manifestos, make verbal and image presentations and contribute thoughtfully to class critiques. I ask them to think, work and play.
